Barn2Door Partners with The Farmer Veteran Coalition

(Seattle, WA) - Barn2Door is excited to announce a new partnership with Farmer Veteran Coalition.

Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) works to encourage a new generation of Farmers and food leaders by developing viable employment and meaningful careers in agriculture. We are big fans!

FVC believes that veterans are uniquely qualified to succeed in sustainable agriculture. It takes diligence, heart and persistence to build, grow and sustain a Farm. Many veterans can attest to the strong sense of purpose and community, as well as the physical and psychological benefits of a post-service career in farming.

FVC Membership is entirely free, and veterans and their supporters benefit from programs and services designed to support Farmers on their agriculture journey. Members of FVC also gain access to exclusive discounts on everything from farm equipment suppliers to agricultural services to companies like Barn2Door --- who build software to power Farmers’ sales and marketing. You can become a member of FVC here: https://farmvetco.org/membership

Barn2Door is humbled and grateful of veterans’ service, and excited for the opportunity to support veterans in farming. The beautiful gift-giving irony: veterans protected our soil when abroad, and some are literally working the soil today---all to benefit and serve America.

Thomas Bennett is one of the veterans using Barn2Door. A dedicated Farmer, dad and husband, who manages a family-owned pork and poultry Farm in Edwardsburg, Michigan, Bennett first served 10 years of active duty (beginning in 2001). From Okinawa, to Parris Island to South Bend, Bennett was an Infantry Weapons Repairmen and Marksmanship Instructor who went on to run base armories in South Carolina and Oregon. He was honorably discharged and retired from active duty in 2010.

Today, Bennett works, owns and runs Bennett Farms. Located in southeastern Michigan, the farm raises non-GMO and antibiotic-free pork and poultry. His chickens enjoy open pasture, bugs and grazing; Bennett’s hogs are happy hogs--- foraging, unconfined and first in line for table scraps.

"I never imagined that my military service would set me up for farming. Farming requires hard work, discipline, attention to detail, care for humans and animals and being a good steward of our earth and soil. Farming has also afforded me an opportunity to better connect with my community. It's important that I take care of my animals and land, but also the families I serve.”

Barn2Door is proud to serve Thomas Bennett and other US military veterans, and encourage veterans to take advantage of the free resources and fantastic support of the Farmer Veteran’s Coalition (FVC). We are delighted to offer a $100 discounts on set-up for FVC members who purchase an annual subscription with Barn2Door. In addition, we will donate 1-month of all veteran subscriptions to the FVC, so they can continue to promote and support veterans' farming pursuits.

As part of the FVC partnership, Barn2Door will be featuring veteran Farmers on our site. Watch for seasonal blogs that highlight the hard work and valued contribution of Farmers who are veterans as they build viable businesses, contribute to the local community, and care for our soil and health as is their norm: making an impact for the greater good.
