Barn2Door’s story began when a humble farmgirl combined her professional expertise - backed by an MBA and Culinary degree - with a lifelong green thumb. As an urban farmer and mother, she experienced firsthand the frustration of sourcing local farm food through clunky listservs and volunteer loops. She watched hardworking family farms struggling to compete with big-box grocers, “Big Ag”, and the rapid rise of online shopping. Driven by her love for real, wholesome food, she set out with fierce determination to empower Independent Farmers across the country.

In 2015, Janelle Maiocco founded Barn2Door to help Farmers become wildly effective and efficient at selling direct to their communities. She recognized that for Farmers to thrive, they needed the tools, data and support to make the local buying experience hassle-free. Barn2Door puts Farmers back in the driver’s seat, helping them bypass costly supply chains, predatory contracts and commodity sale barn(s). She is determined to put Farmers in the best position to maximize profits, attract local buyers and maintain control over the outcomes of their business.
