Subscriptions in Action

Chucktown Acres

With a robust Subscription program, Chucktown Acres delights customers with a Farmer’s Choice Subscription Box. Farmer Alex uses social media to share what’s included in each box, increasing visibility and driving more Subscription sign-ups.

Schedule Options for Buyer Convenience

ONGOING SUBSCRIPTIONS

For products that are available year-round, these are perfect for products that are always in demand and available on a consistent schedule (weekly or monthly). Common examples include Dairy, Eggs, Poultry, Pork, and Beef.

SEASONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

Align your Subscription to a specific harvest season. Arrange the term to set for a specific amount of weeks or months (typically 3-24 weeks or 1-4 months). Common examples include Produce CSAs, Flowers, and Seafood Subscriptions.

ROLLING SUBSCRIPTIONS

Recurring regularly, there’s no specific term associated and they’re perfect for a herd share or multiple seasons of a Produce CSA – occurring on a set rolling period (3, 6, 9, or 12 months). Common examples include a 3-month Produce CSA or a 6-month Herdshare (Protein or Dairy).

Fulfillments and Subscriptions

DELIGHT CUSTOMERS WITH CONVENIENCE

Offer flexible delivery, pickup, or shipping options with the ability to set order cut-off times and black-out dates. Almost 80% of Americans admitted that having multiple fulfillment options influences their purchasing decisions!

Make it Easy to Purchase. Easily set subscription length and schedules based on product availability and seasonality. Customers expect fulfillments that are convenient for their lives: Local Pickup or Delivery.

Streamline Operations. Plan your harvest processing schedules in advance, aligning them to fulfillment dates. Subscriptions make it easier to plan ahead.

Allow Product Add-Ons. Use order cut-off times and black-out dates to allow customers to “add on” items to their regular subscription order. Up to 30% of additional sales occur with add-on products with regular email order reminders.

Customize your delivery schedule, choose when and where you’ll deliver, and send automatic order reminders 24hr before orders arrive on customers’ doorsteps. Farms that deliver increase average monthly revenue by 2x.

Decide when and where you’ll be available. Create consistent schedules and pre-sell inventory before Pickups to secure revenue in advance. Almost 70% of Americans regularly pick-up orders placed online while running errands.

Configure shipping rules to cover costs and incentivize larger orders. Narrow shipping zones to specific regions and calculate costs by size and weight. Farms shipping with Barn2Door enjoy up to a 45% discount on Shipping Rates.

Barn2Door Unlock Feature

We love building tools to help Farmers successfully run their businesses. With the Barn2Door Unlock Feature, Farmers can select specific products to serve as a 'gate' to additional items. So, when buyers purchase a gated item (e.g., a bundle subscription), it will automatically unlock access to Add-on Specialty Products (e.g., eggs, bacon, or truffles)! This helps reward loyal buyers and incentivize larger purchases!

Flexible Payments Options

Pay Upfront

Pay as You Go

Receive Payments on your schedule

When setting up payment options, the ability to pay-upfront or pay-as-you-go should be the only two options for customers. There are no other eCommerce experiences that offer “payment plans” that do not align with fulfillment schedules.

Pay Upfront. Let customers pay for the subscription in full. As an incentive, Farmers will typically offer between a 5%-10% discount for paid-upfront Subscriptions. ⅓ of Farm subscriptions are paid-upfront.

Pay as You Go. Allow customers to pay for each fulfillment to spread out the cash outlay. For a weekly subscription, charge the customer weekly, or for a monthly subscription, monthly. ⅔ of all Farm subscriptions are pay-as-you-go.

Fit into your Customers’ Busy lives

Late Enrollment. Allow buyers to join part way through the Subscription period with Late Enrollment. Buyers will automatically be charged a prorated amount depending on the fulfillment schedule or remainder of the term.

Buyer Skip & Buyer Cancel. Easily manage buyers’ busy lives, allowing them to skip or cancel their Subscription. The easier it is to make changes to their order, the better experience customers will have with your Farm brand.
