Introducing Shipping Subscriptions

At Barn2Door, our Product team talks to Farmers regularly to gather feedback and understand what new capabilities we can build to help them increase sales, access more customers, and save time. Whether it’s the ability to offer multiple fulfillment options (local delivery, pick-up, or shipping) or manage 20-week subscription programs, we build features to meet Farmers’ needs.

While the majority of our Farms offer local delivery and pick-ups, more and more have implemented shipping to gain access to a whole new pool of Buyers. With Subscriptions driving recurring revenue for many of our top-performing Farms, we are excited to announce  Subscriptions for your shippable Items.

How it Works

Farmers can now offer shipping for a one-time purchase and / or Subscriptions. To begin offering this service, Farmers must create shipping schedules that indicate how often products are shipped. These schedules are formatted like delivery or pick-up schedules, requiring start and end dates with weekly, monthly, or other frequencies. Buyers will then be able to choose from one or more shipping frequency options when purchasing a Subscription to a shipped item(s).

What is New?

With a new subscription capability:

  1. Create a Shipping Schedule. To offer Subscription(s) to your shipping item(s), Farmers will need to first create a shipping schedule, to indicate how often items are shipped.

  2. Automatic Processing. Three days prior to the shipping date, Buyers with Subscriptions will be automatically charged for their next shipment. (This time frame is built in, to accommodate for failed payments, with time to process again if a Buyer updates their credit card details).

  3. Automatic Order Cut-off. Orders for the ‘next shipment date’ can be made up to 3 days before that shipment. If your next shipment is less than 72 hours, the Buyer will see the next shipping date indicated by the shipping schedule.

  4. Order Summary Email to Farmer. Farmers will receive an email listing all subscription orders for the ‘next shipment,’ three days before the respective shipping date.

  5. New Subscription Icon in Shipping Center. Subscription fulfillments are now indicated with an icon in the Shipping Center table.

  6. Buyer Email Reminder. Buyers will receive a reminder email once processing is complete (or if their payment failed!) to let them know their item is about to be shipped!

  7. Download Pick & Pack Lists. Organize Shipping orders by using the Pick list to gather everything you need to ship out and the Pack list to arrange Customers’ items by order.

What Stays the Same

In addition to offering subscriptions for shipped items, Farms can continue to offer one-time purchase(s) of shippable items, and fulfill those orders as they come in (rolling fulfillment). No schedule is required, as orders can be placed and fulfilled at any time.

*Note: Shipping Subscriptions does not support Ongoing Subscriptions
